Are counseling sessions confidential?

At Thriving Families Counseling Services, we keep confidentiality as a high standard for our clients. Legally, there are some exceptions to this clause.

Iowa law and ethical codes require the protection and confidentiality of client records and information. Our therapists may disclose information without a client's consent in certain situations, including:

If the client or others are in imminent danger
If the client is being involuntarily committed
If the therapist is reporting abuse or neglect
If the client has planned suicide or violence towards others
If the client has a history of child abuse
If the therapist is ordered to disclose information by a court
If the therapist is required to disclose information to initiate or complete civil commitment proceedings

Yes, we do offer telehealth sessions. Please get in touch with our office to learn more about this counseling option.

What are your hours?

Our hours are 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on Monday through Friday.

Saturday and Sunday are by appointment only.

Where are you located?

Our address is 1741 Grade Ave. West Des Moines, IA 50265.
